A practical path for Reading families ready for a clearer next step.

Calm Wellness helps parents connect chronic pediatric symptoms to the gut, immune system, nutrition, infections, environmental exposures, sleep, and stress physiology. You can start with a free consult, use telehealth for most care, and come to Morgantown when an in-person visit is the better fit.

Step 1

Start with a consult.

Tell us what has been happening, what has already been tried, and what you want answered. We will talk through fit for your Reading family.

Step 2

Choose in-person or telehealth.

Families from Reading can visit our Morgantown office when hands-on assessment is helpful, then use telehealth for many follow-ups. The drive is about 30 min.

Step 3

Leave with a written plan.

We map symptoms, review prior labs, order targeted testing when needed, and give you a plan for food, routines, supplements, referrals, and follow-up.

You have already tried the Reading-area pediatricians.

Reading families have good access to conventional pediatric care, Reading Hospital, Penn State Health St. Joseph, the Tower Health network, and a network of regional specialists. The pediatricians do solid work within their framework. Calm Wellness adds a pediatric functional medicine practice with the credentials to take YMYL pediatric medical content seriously and the experience to work with chronic, complex pediatric conditions. Many Reading families have already made the 30-minute drive south to Morgantown and tell us it has been the best appointment they’ve made for their child. Others see us entirely via telehealth, Pennsylvania’s licensure makes that possible, and most of the work can happen virtually after the initial intake.

How Reading families work with us.

In-person at the Morgantown clinic. About 30 minutes south of central Reading via I-176 and PA-23. Friday clinic hours. Easy parking, family-friendly waiting area. Telehealth across Pennsylvania. Secure video, statewide PA. Many Reading families combine an initial in-person visit with telehealth follow-ups so most of the relationship can happen from home. Lab kits ship to your home; blood draws happen at a Quest or Labcorp near you (there are several in Reading proper).

Conditions Reading families bring us most often.

Reading is a large, demographically varied city, and our patient population reflects that. The conditions we see most often from Reading-area families:

  • Chronic gut issues, constipation that’s been going on for years, IBS-like patterns, reflux that partially improves with medication, food sensitivities the standard panels missed.
  • ADHD where the family wants to understand the full picture: gut-brain connections, food chemicals, sleep architecture, micronutrient status, sometimes hidden chronic infection.
  • Eczema that has been on topical steroids for years and the family is ready to address why the immune system keeps firing.
  • PANS/PANDAS, sudden-onset OCD, tics, regression. We recognize the immune-mediated pattern and build care around the full presentation.
  • Autoimmune-spectrum conditions, Hashimoto’s, juvenile arthritis pre-flare, lupus precursors. Functional medicine works alongside conventional rheumatology.
  • Lyme and tick-borne illness in kids. Berks County has a real Lyme exposure profile, and standard testing routinely misses pediatric cases.
  • Mold exposure, older housing stock in some Reading neighborhoods has water-damage histories that families may have overlooked in the symptom timeline.

Why Reading parents choose us.

  • 25 years of pediatric clinical experience, Pediatric ICU, pediatric urology specializing in bladder dysfunction and biofeedback, integrative pediatric primary care, school nurse, Primary Care Integrative PNP at Restorative Wellness in Exton.
  • Board-certified functional medicine practitioner through AANWP, plus Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse certification through AHNA.
  • Clear recommendations. Recommendations are based on your child’s clinical picture, test results, tolerance, and family capacity. You pay us for our time. That is it.
  • We stay with hard cases. Most Reading families find us after a long search for answers.
  • Clear pricing in a market where pricing is often opaque. Free 15-minute consult, public package pricing for GI Reset and 4-Month Concierge, visit and lab costs explained before you book or order testing, HSA/FSA accepted, superbills provided.

What to expect.

The first visit is usually 60 to 75 minutes depending on age and complexity. We will take a comprehensive history, recommend specific functional medicine testing based on what we hear, and explain the next steps. Most Reading families do this first visit in person to build the relationship; many move to telehealth for follow-ups after that. We work alongside your child’s existing pediatrician. With your written consent we can share findings and recommendations with your pediatrician. Some pediatricians in the Reading area are interested and supportive; some are skeptical of functional medicine. Either way, the framework adds another clinical layer.
