Pediatric gut reset · 6-week functional medicine program
A 6-week reset for chronic pediatric gut symptoms.
Ongoing constipation. Reflux. Bloating. Food sensitivities. Eczema with a gut connection. The GI Reset is a focused 6-week plan designed to find what is going on in your child's gut and start meaningful change. Available for kids 12 months and older.
Who this is for.
Kids 12 months and older with chronic gut symptoms, constipation, diarrhea, gas and bloating, reflux, food sensitivities, ear infections, eczema with a gut connection, unexplained stomach pain, recurrent yeast or thrush, picky eating that has gone past developmental norms. The GI Reset is the right starting point for most pediatric gut issues. Severe complex cases, chronic Lyme, multi-system mold illness, autoimmune-spectrum conditions, PANS/PANDAS active flare, multi-system chronic illness, and complex medication regimens usually need the 4-Month Concierge Package, where we have the time and testing budget to do the work properly. For infants under 12 months, please start with the free 15-minute consult; we can often help, but the format is different.
What’s included.
- GI Map stool test. Comprehensive microbiome analysis from Diagnostic Solutions Labs with 50+ markers, bacteria balance, parasites, yeast, leaky gut markers (zonulin), inflammation (calprotectin), digestive enzyme function (elastase), secretory IgA. The GI Map lab cost is included in the package price.
- Two 30-minute one-on-one sessions with Kim. First session: intake and test logistics. Second session: results review and plan walkthrough.
- A personalized GI Map summary and written wellness plan. What we found, what it means, and exactly what to do about it. Diet adjustments, targeted supplements (if needed), environmental considerations, lifestyle support, written down so you can refer back to it.
- Unlimited portal messaging during the 6-week plan. For follow-ups, “is this normal,” “should I try X,” questions about the supplement schedule. Usual response within 1 to 2 business days from Kim or a trained team member.
- Supplement guidance when appropriate. If supplements are part of the plan, Kim explains why they are being recommended, how to use them, and what to watch for.
What it costs.
The GI Reset is a flat-fee package, and we share the exact price on your free consult. HSA and FSA eligible. Calm Wellness is cash-pay, and we provide a superbill you can submit for potential reimbursement. Most insurance plans cover little to none of functional medicine work regardless of provider. The package includes the GI Map lab cost, two sessions, interpretation, and a written wellness plan, giving families a practical way in before a major multi-month commitment.
What to expect, the timeline.
- Week 1. First 30-minute session. We take a focused history of your child’s gut symptoms, dietary patterns, sleep, and any prior testing. The GI Map kit ships to your home that week.
- Weeks 1 to 2. You collect the sample at home (most kids find it surprisingly painless, and the stool sample can be easily collected in the privacy of your own home). You ship it to the lab using the prepaid package.
- Week 3. Lab results arrive (usually 10 to 14 days after the sample lands at the lab). We review them together in your second 30-minute session. You see the actual data. We explain each marker in plain English. You receive your written plan.
- Weeks 3 to 6. You implement the plan with portal support. We answer questions, troubleshoot, adjust as your child responds. Many families see initial change, bowel movements normalizing, less bloating, more energy, by the end of week 4.
- Week 6+. Decide on next steps. If we identified a complex picture (chronic infection, mold exposure, autoimmune involvement, multiple body systems affected), we recommend stepping into the 4-Month Concierge Package, with a returning-family discount if booked within 6 weeks of your second session. If your child’s situation is straightforward and the plan is working, you can transition to a maintenance approach without further formal care.
Why we built this.
Many families need a lower-friction starting point before committing to a multi-month program. The GI Reset is designed for parents who want to find out what is going on in their child’s gut, at a price that keeps the decision manageable. Most kids whose primary issue is gut dysfunction respond well to the 6-week plan and can transition to maintenance. The minority who need more, because the gut picture reveals something deeper or because the gut is one piece of a multi-system situation, get a clear path forward with the GI Map data already in hand.
Fit and boundaries.
- Severe or multi-system cases need a broader container. Immediate safety concerns, active infection needing immediate treatment, or complex chronic conditions with multi-system involvement usually belong in the consult-to-concierge path.
- Infants need a different format. For children under 12 months, start with the free consult so we can recommend the right route.
- Gut repair continues after the reset. The 6-week plan identifies what is going on and starts the rebuild; the rebuild itself often takes another 2 to 4 months of food, supplements, and routine work.
- The GI Map is one clinical tool. The value comes from interpretation in the context of your child’s history and from the individualized plan, which is what the two sessions with Kim are for.
Common situations we see.
- The kid who has been on MiraLAX for 18 months and the parents are looking for an actual fix. The GI Map almost always reveals what’s been driving the constipation, usually a combination of low beneficial bacteria, opportunistic overgrowth, and slowed motility from gut barrier issues.
- The toddler whose eczema flares with certain foods but the IgE allergy panel came back negative. The GI Map plus a targeted food elimination usually identifies the actual triggers within the 6 weeks.
- The school-age kid who throws up every Sunday night before school. Often gut-driven anxiety with an underlying microbial pattern; the gut work plus some gentle nervous-system support resolves most cases.
- The child with chronic yeast issues, recurrent thrush, or cradle cap that persisted past infancy. Almost always a microbiome story; the GI Map directly identifies it.
